  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

The Little Officer

Between the period of the Crusades and the Liberation of Israel from the Ottoman Empire - an interesting historical event took place: the Children's Crusades

N. Lieberman 26/07/2009 10:00
It set out in 1212 from the city of Saint Denis, France, and was headed by a twelve-year-old French boy, Stefan de Cloyes, who sought to liberate the Holy Land from the hands of the Muslims.

Stefan de Cloyes was the youngest officer ever serving in an army of over ten thousand soldiers, and succeeded in recruiting 20,000 'soldiers' – mostly children who admired him – to join him in the crusades. He claimed to possess super-natural powers and stated that the "man from Nazareth" had appeared to him in a vision, commanding him to lead the next crusades.

His plan was to arrive at the Marseille harbor, where the sea would split for him, and he and his soldiers would walk on dry land to the Land of Israel.

Naturally, his plans failed, and the merchants at the harbor collected the children crusaders and sent them on boats to Tunisia, where they were sold as slaves.

Not all the crusades ended in that fashion; in most them, Jewish blood was spilled like water. The Crusaders and all those who joined them went from one Jewish community to the other, systematically murdering all Jews whom they encountered.

Among the Jewish communities destroyed by the Crusaders in 1096\ 4856, were the famous communities surrounding the Rein River: Shapira, Wormaiza and Magenza, as well as other Jewish communities in Germany and Italy.

During the Crusades, the Jews showed their true devotion to G-d and His Torah and sanctified His name by sacrificing themselves for the sake of their faith.

May G-d revenge their blood.
