  • The Mission Continues

As in the past so it remains today - we were and still are under the selfsame commitment to adhere to the directions of the Gedolei Yisrael, who stand guard against breaches of purity threatening our camp. When we were required to ask – we asked. When we were instructed to depart – we left. The moment we are summoned back to raise the flag, every other consideration is pushed to the side and we answer: We are ready!

In I got It!

‘One Gives More, One Gives Less…

…but the hearts and minds of both are directed towards their Father in Heaven’

N. Leiberman 02/11/2009 10:00
The shortest tefilla mentioned in Tanach consists of five words, as opposed to the longest tefilla which is made up of 846 words.

The shortest tefilla was offered up by Moshe Rabbenu, begging Hashem to heal his sister Miriam who had been smitten with tzaraas: ‘Kel na, refa na lah’ – Please Hashem, please heal her’ (Bamidbar 12:13).

The longest tefilla in Tanach was that of Shlomo haMelech, and contains 846 words. It appears in Sefer Melachim (Kings) 1, 8 which describes the inauguration of the first Beis haMikdash, the holy Temple that Shlomo himself had built. Here he offers up the famous tefilla where he pleads with Hashem that any gentile, who comes to the Beis haMikdash to pray, would merit having his prayer answered; as opposed to the Jews whose prayers are heeded on the basis of their spiritual level. His intention was to increase the glory of Hashem in the world, as the gentiles will see that the Jewish G-d answers prayers. The words of this tefilla is brought down in Melachim 1, 8:41-44

“And also, to the gentile who is not from Your nation of Israel, and comes from a distant land, because [he] heard of Your Great Name and Your strong hand and outstretched arm; and comes to pray in this house, You will hear in the heavens, Your dwelling place, and You shall do all that the gentile asks of You, in order that all the nations of the earth will know Your Name, to fear it like Your nation of Israel, and to know that Your name is on this house that I have built.”

May it be Your will,

That all our prayers will be accepted before You!
